re: my post from 9.12.11
Funny story… So, where I learned the below lesson? This is where I will be building my career and words cannot describe how incredibly grateful I am to be a part of this team.
“Don’t settle for some job or industry that you don’t love.”
My internship has been such a learning mecca for me already and I’m less than a month deep. It’s awesome because I feel like my bosses truly want us to “get it” and they aren’t just having us update myspaces and twitters and facebooks. It’s a lot more than that. I feel like I am actually managing bands and I know I’m not (yet) - but the amount of hands on experience is really cool. Above is a quote from one of my bosses and it’s something that I will live by. We have Q&A’s with everyone in the office, which I have really valued, and this was a bit of the advice that I got today.
I can’t commit myself to a job or an industry that I don’t love. Work takes up so much of your time and life and frankly, I don’t want to work the rest of my life. I want to strive for success and to make others’ lives better through what I do. If you love what you do, you don’t work a day in your life. That is my goal in life.
